Why we exist
Teams building consequential systems are stuck between two bad options. Consultants give them strategy without shipping. Staff augmentation gives them shipping without strategy. Neither owns the shape of the system. Neither is accountable for what happens after the engagement ends.
Moonrise Labs is built for the gap between those two. Senior engineering judgment applied to real problems, shipped as working software, with the architecture and operational discipline to hold up after we leave.
How we work
We embed with your team and treat the engagement as a product, not a retainer. Clear outcomes, shipped in increments. Architecture, implementation, security and compliance posture, observability, and handoff are not separate phases. They are the same work done well.
Modern tooling is part of how we move quickly, AI-assisted delivery included. Judgment, review, and verification are how we keep the work trustworthy. We use both deliberately.
About Ryan
Ryan founded Moonrise Labs after 15+ years building systems at startups through growth-stage companies in regulated and operationally complex environments: healthcare, energy, finance. Prior roles include Principal Software Engineer at Synop (EV fleet management and energy optimization), Senior Software Engineer at Haven Healthcare (the Amazon / Berkshire / JPMorgan joint venture), and engineering leadership roles at Care/of, Mount Sinai, Canary, and Blue Apron.
I started Moonrise Labs because the companies I most want to work with, teams running consequential systems under real constraints, deserve better than the two options the market gives them. My job is to bring judgment, execution, and discipline in the same engagement, and to leave behind systems that keep working after I'm gone.
